Doppelganger danger!

DAYS OF OUR LIVES: Who is the real Rafe? Even Sami doesn't know.

A vicious brawl ensues when Rafe sets eyes on his evil imposter for the first time on Days of our Lives.

The deceitful scheme perpetrated by the DiMeras, to have Rafe’s doppelganger destroy his marriage with Sami, had been going to plan up until the recent murder of Fay – but things have changed.

Ever since Faux Rafe killed a woman to prevent her from exposing the scam, Stefano and EJ have grown cold on the plan and are now ordering the imposter to leave Salem. As Faux Rafe’s guilt at killing Fay overwhelms him, he leaves town immediately, and despite minor set backs with car troubles, he meets a beautiful woman and they’re soon having sex in his apartment.

Meanwhile, back at the psychiatric ward, the real Rafe has disguised himself as a staff member and manages to escape hospital. However, the break-out is short-lived when he accidentally falls off a cliff!

But the drama doesn’t end here. Although the real Rafe is presumed dead, his imposter faces more obstacles. He bumps into runaways Ciara and Theo and tries sweet-talking the kids into lying about seeing him. He then finds himself coerced into some publicity for their rescue, followed by dramas with Sami who overhears him discussing his one- night stand with Dario.

While the real Rafe is being nursed back to health in the local convent, Faux Rafe manages to complete his assigned task of sabotaging Rafe’s marriage with Sami when he considers stabbing her during a heated argument.

But his victory is short-lived when he realises Sami has taken his credit card bearing his real name, Javier Morales and has gone to the safe house to reminisce about Rafe, so Faux Rafe heads there intent on finishing her off. Meanwhile the real Rafe is also en route to the house.

When Faux Rafe arrives, he is horrified to find Sami with the real Rafe. With both Rafes starting at each other, Sami is confused and in utter shock, even more so when Faux Rafe holds them both at gunpoint. As Faux Rafe shouts that Rafe is the lookalike who wants her dead, Rafe attacks him. The violent brawl results in Sami being knocked out unconscious and one man bleeding on the floor – but who is it?

B&B: Can Hope (Kimberly Matula) and Liam's (Scott Clifton) love survive?

In our latest issue of Soap World, things are getting rather saucy on our favourite soaps, with plenty of sex dramas, fantasies and passionate embraces hitting the screens.

On the Bold and the Beautiful, Steffy and Hope both have sex on their mind – but for very different reasons. Hope begins secret sex therapy sessions after a disappointing first sexual experience with Liam, while Steffy unleashes her latest ruse by engaging in seductive mind games with Rick. Does the wicked Steffy have an ulterior motive?

Meanwhile on Home and Away, Leah starts to fall hard and fast for bad boy Brax, after seeing him in a whole new light. When Brax’s pursues the opportunity to become a positive role model for VJ, the two begin to share a special bond and cause Leah to reassess Brax’s character. Could Leah be the women to help Brax move on with his life?

As for Neighbours, Susan’s health takes a turn for the worst when she gets caught up in Paul’s office politics. As she struggles with her new position, she’s soon aware that the symptoms of her previously dormant multiple sclerosis are returning in full force. Could Paul and his poisonous office politics ultimately kill Susan?

On The Young and the Restless, Victor bursts Billy out of prison to save Delia’s life – on the condition that he never sees his wife or daughter again. And on Days of our Lives, Melanie is attacked by a masked intruder who sneers that he murdered Arianna in cold blood and intends to kill Melanie too.

Also in this issue of Soap World, we catch up with Charlie Sheen who opens up about his new TV show and last years infamous meltdown. We also talk to Jennifer Aniston about new movies, nudity and why she’s decided to let her guard down a bit.

We also have some great prizes to give away – including special Mother’s Day gifts and DVD packs, and Kate Moss and Miranda Kerr share their hot beauty tips for this autumn.

Enjoy!

THE WORLD OF SOAP… with Rebecca Lake

October 8th, 2010 by Soap World | 1 Comment | Filed in Days of Our Lives, Video

She’s Baaaaacck!

When Ken Corday announced that Days of Our Lives’ most deranged diva, Vivian Alamain, was making a return to Salem, a collective whoop of joyful anticipation rang out through the Soap World offices.

For long-time Salem-worshippers, Vivian represents some of the maddest, most over-the-top storylines to ever come out of that bizarre soap hamlet. Whether she was pinching Kate Roberts’s eggs and having them secretly surgically implanted into herself, or whether she was jumping out of an aeroplane after being fitted with a mind-altering dental filling, Vivian was always good for a laugh and a “what will she get up to next?”

With Vivian and her arch nemesis Carly set to make a splash on Australian screens over the next few months, we have dug up (get it?!) a clip of Vivian’s most infamous storyline, which involved La Alamain, a coffin, and a whole lot of graveyard shenanigans.

THE WORLD OF SOAP… with Rebecca Lake

Stefano, where did you go?

A Caged Phoenix

What would soap operas be without a villain plotting evil against his fellow man while twirling his metaphorical moustache with very real glee? Well, they would look a lot less like the melodramatic fantasies that we love, and a lot more like Play School.

Although every soap has its share of wrongdoers – Y&R plays host to boardroom baddie Victor Newman, B&B boasts gun-happy Stephanie Forrester, while Neighbours has been showcasing Paul Robinson’s sordid shenanigans since 1985 – none can touch Days’ Stefano DiMera for sheer evilness.

Unlike his naughty soap counterparts, who became villains out of power mania, greed or a lifelong appreciation for the the work of The Wizard of Oz‘s Wicked Witch of the West, Stefano was literally born to be wild. As the seventh son of a seventh son, the DiMera patriarch is fabled to be the very embodiment of evil, which has served as ripe fodder for storylines over the past three decades.

That’s why it is so tragic that this once great baddie has been robbed of his fire, and is now reduced to growling disconsolately while his son, EJ takes over Stefano’s position as the head of the family’s empire.

If Stefano’s shacking up with Kate in cosy marital bliss weren’t enough of a sign of his waning devilry, he actually (gasp) cries in an upcoming episode of the show. Yes, you read that right – the man who planted a mind-altering dental plate in Vivian Alamain can be spotted sobbing on the streets of Salem.

If Stefano can be de-clawed, what’s next? A sane Nicole? An ugly Rafe? An animated Chloe???

We can only hope that this Phoenix will once again rise up and embrace his inner cad, as Salem just isn’t Salem without Stefano at his maddest and baddest.

What are your thoughts on the new Stefano? Are you digging his softer side? Or would you like to see him return to his glory days of brainwashing and body snatching? Send your comments to: soap@nextmedia.com.au.
